I would love to hear from you!

Dear Kitty, Just a note to tell you that I love your voice, your interpretation of music and your ministry. You have helped me to pray. Through your music, I am able to lift my heart to God and implore, praise, seek and thank HIm over and over again. You assist me…that is how I see it…to become closer to Christ, to the Holy Spirit and to God the Father. I was listening to Catholic Radio in Sacramento many years ago and heard your father being interviewed. I was captivated. He talked about you and they played your Ave Maria and I was awe struck. I searched for your CD but did not remember your name. After some time, I took a chance on buying Surrender, and knew immediately that I found who I was looking for! I have trouble though, thinking of branching out to listen to anyone else. You have touched my soul. Thank you and I look forward to your next CD…please make it soon~

Your July Newsletter was received on July 21 and I have been trying to find time to respond. I find that words are inadquate to express how much I love your music and the positive effect it has had on my life. I wish I had had EYE OF THE STORM during Katrina. I will have it next storm. I feel that I am praying constantly as I listen to your music and I know that I am. I would love to hear the wonderful church songs that used to be sung during my days at Ursuline. I don’t even remember the names of them but they were very popular during the fifties and most were sung in Latin. There was one sung to Our Lady of Prompt Succor but I have forgotten the words. I will be looking for the next album. Love and God bless,
Christy Pate
Thy Kingdom Come! Dear Kitty in Christ, It was great to see you in Atlanta. You look fabulous! Motherhood becomes you… Thank you for sharing your music with us during Mass. The brothers sound like angels, but you gave me chills. And you sang my two favorites for Mass. I know you pray your songs. I don’t know if it is possible that we pray your songs as well, but I think that is the only way to explain it for me. I heard that Cardinal Rode was very surprised and pleased with what he saw. Isn’t it incredible that he chose to be with us during our YFE! He called us holy arsons for Christ when he was at the Mission Network office on Monday. I recently became the auxiliary for our KC Challenge Club, so my conventions will be Challenge Regional Formator’s in November and Youth Formator’s in January. Imagine, I don’t even have daughters. How about you? What are you working on – besides your daughter, your music, your trip to Scotland?

Dear Kitty: I cannot tell you how happy I was to read about the ‘new’ Surrender CD [available in Sept. 2007]. My mother, who is 88 years “young” and lives with me, LOVES the song “Lord, When You Came to the Seashore”. I have searched the internet to find it on a CD, but with no luck…She is going to be so very happy when I purchase this new CD! Thank you very much and God bless you. P.S. This song gives her so much peace and consolation, and she sings along with it so prayerfully. Thanks again.

Hi Kitty – My friend, Dianne, is enjoying your “Be Not Afraid” CD (which you autographed, remember?) as she fights cancer of the brain. We are praying to JP II for her recovery. Just want to let you know how much your music has touched people you don’t even know. Dianne and I were nursing classmates in Illinois – she’s now living in Houston. I’m going to share your newsletter with her. Thanks for using your gift! God Bless You, Joan

Kitty, I am Peter Coleman’s sister and Mollie Lowe’s dear friend. I have been very moved by your music and your Journey with the Lord. I just wanted to drop you a note to thank-you for your inspiration and encouragement. You are truly a beautiful person and soul, and you are using your gifts to the utmost. With Love and prayers of Blessings for you and your dear and growing family.

Dear Kitty, Keeping you and your family as always in our prayers. I just want to drop you a note telling you how much I have enjoyed your last CD (Be Not Afraid). I am not mourning, but as everyone I carry my own cross. It is such a beautiful music. So soft, so inspiring, it just brings me into the Lord. I have to admit that some days I like to sing along and some others I just listen as I talk with Jesus, or have Him in my thoughts. It’s such a beautiful music. I am looking forward to your next CD, when ever this might come out.

Kitty–I’ve been listening to your Be Not Afraid CD in my car, and just wanted to tell you it sounds great. You have a beautiful voice (I already knew that). The CD is a real blessing! Your version of God Alone is Enough is awesome. I know you’re not thrilled with the song On Eagle’s Wings, but you really knocked that one out of the park, too. Fragrance Prayer is another one of my faves. You rock (in a classical sort of way).

I purchased the Miracle of Love Rosary CD and I think it is truly BEAUTIFUL! God has given you such a marvelous gift and I want to thank you for sharing your gift with us, your fans. You have such a wonderful voice! I happened to be looking for a rosary online, and a seller was offering your rosary CD if you purchased the rosary. She had a sound clip of your CD on the page. I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard! I was totally in awe. I googled your name and found your website where I ordered 2 more CD’s. Your voice is truly the sound of angels!

Hi Kitty, I don’t see in my “Sent Mail” file that I ever wrote to let you know I received “Be Not Afraid”. If I already wrote to you, then accept this as twice the thanks!! Absolutely beautiful. Right now Joe Hand is listening to one of my songs that I might do a re-make of, as a duet with Trish [Foti Genco]. I hope to have him produce it, along with a new arrangement. He did a great job with “Be Not Afraid” and I can see why he is nominated for Producer of the Year. And congratulations on your own multiple nominations! Will you be performing? That would be great to hear you sing in person. I am working on trying to get an “event” planned here that would allow several Catholic artists an opportunity to showcase their ministries and make some good contacts for future concerts here. You are certainly one of the folks I’d love to help arrange a concert for. I am looking forward to Phoenix. It will be the first time that I will have seen Trish in more than 20 years and the first time that I’ll have an opportunity to meet other SW artists. And of course, it’ll be the first time I meet a fellow New Orleanian, Kitty! Yes, I grew up on the West Bank… in Belle Chasse. Still have most of my family there. After I left the seminary I lived on Prytania St. and used to jog at Audubon Park almost every day. And then I moved to San Antonio 16 years ago…Peace in Jesus, Dan

[Written to Kitty’s mother] Several weeks ago I received a CD in the mail as a gift: “Be Not Afraid” by Kitty Cleveland. “In memory of my father and hero, Carl W. Cleveland. October 7, 1942 – July 21, 2006. All is well, Dad. All is well.” Powerful, is the only word that I can conjure up to communicate my feelings and thoughts. Typically, I am not real fond of Kitty’s style of singing. That’s not to say that every now and then a track of music like hers doesn’t capture my musical mind that loves music and nurtures my soul. I wrote the title, credits and dedication above, because all of it ……… well, it just stopped my spirituality in its tracks and I think it marked the beginning of my return to rebuilding my lost Catholic journey. I hope I am being appropriate and not causing you any pain. There is so much to discuss about this journey. I can’t do that now. Maybe I’ll go on a retreat and seek help there. Anyway, the CD is AWESOME. I have it in my car and listen to it periodically when I am meditating deeply. I just LOVE it. Kitty has such a wonderful voice and she so beautiful. I know all of your family must be as beautiful as she is. What great gifts God gave you and Carl.

TKC! Kitty, After just reading your e-newsletter, I’ve just listened to every “snippet” of your “Be Not Afraid” CD and was brought to tears. My dad was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in January, and while he is doing very well (chemo is shrinking his tumors), the future looms uncertain on the horizon. I felt compelled to buy 2 of your CD’s–one for me and one for my mom (whose birthday is coming up). She and my dad have been married for 47 years (today, in fact), and I know your music will be a great comfort to her, regardless of what the next year holds for us. I know it will be a blessing to my dad, too! Thanks for the beautiful way you use your gifts to give glory to God!

Thank you for your note letting me know that you mailed my CD. I was visiting Lake Tahoe and I decided to go to Virginia City. While I was there I visited this lovely old church name St. Mary. Its near down town Virginia City. I took a tour of the church and bought their wine–Mad Monk. While I entered this lovely old church your Sacred Arias was playing-it sounded so heavenly. I just asked the girl at the counter if I could buy a copy of the music they were playing and she gave me you email address. I asked her “Why don’t you sell these CD’s here at church?” and she said they were working on it. Best Regards and God Bless, Maria

Dear Kitty, You will not remember me (most of the emails sent to you probably start out with those five words), but I met you after a concert you gave at St. Francis in Bakersfield, CA. My name is Leanne Gold, and was later delighted to hear that you, also, have a daughter from China! Our daughter, Hannah, was at the Divine Mercy concert you gave, but I had to take her outside because she started wailing somewhat loudly during one of your songs (I think it was "You are Mine".) Unfortunately, your song reminded her of our recently deceased and much beloved poodle, Cleo. Hannah feels music very deeply. Now, I have to listen to your "Be Not Afraid" CD with earphones! Hannah does all right with your "Sacred Arias" CD, and she must think a lot of you, because she named one of her little stuffed animals Kitty Cleveland. We're a weird family. I bet that is the first time you've been told that your music makes someone think of her dead poodle or that you've had a stuffed animal named after you! While I was ordering CD's from your web site last week, I saw the post about your wanting to record a CD in Scotland. My husband, Alan, and I would like more information about possibly sponsoring–if the opportunity is still available… We love your music, and it is such a pleasure to have met you and find you to be a humble, down-to-earth person. Oh, I gave your CD to my mom (non-Catholic Christian), who is currently going through some major physical trials. Your CD moved her to tears. It touched her deeply. Thank you for your ministry.

Hi Kitty, I just wanted to let you know that you’ve been touching souls here in St. Louis. We buried a 60 year old parishioner (Christie Rogan) yesterday who died of pancreatic cancer. As I was preparing the music for her mass, I kept having people tell me that I must include her favorite song which was your version of “You Are Mine.” She had used that as a song for her witness during a Christ Renews His Parish retreat and it was a very special song to her always. Then yesterday another lady told me that your version of that song was also a powerful song for her as well. All because you sang at Holy Trinity and they bought your music! Praise God.

Kitty, I can’t begin to express how delighted we were with your contribution to the celebration of Jenny and Scoot’s wedding nearly a month ago now (time really flies). I was a bit shaky until I heard you sing “The Lord’s Prayer” and then it all “came together.” At that point, I experienced an extreme feeling of peace. I knew everything that night would be perfect. After that, the night was without flaw…Thank you for being a VERY special part of our family’s celebration. May God grant you happiness and peace as you have given to others. Bless you, Kitty.

Kitty, Last Sunday I was at St. Edward’s in Metairie, and I wanted you to know how much we all enjoyed the evening. It was so refreshing and filled with the Holy Spirit. Thank you for bringing the Lord in such a special way to me and to so many others. GOD LOVES YOU, and I know he is so happy with all of your hard work for him. Peace and love! De colores!

Kitty, I can’t thank you enough. WOW–everyone is still talking about you. Several people want to know when you will have Surrender on CD again…By the way, because of your devotion to the Blessed Sacrament we have a new member in our RCIA. God bless and thank you from all of us here at Holy Family. James Herbert

Hello Kitty, I had the privilege of meeting you at a Marian conference in CA several years ago. I bought two of your CD’s. My mother was hospitalized in February for a week. She feared hospitals and doctors her entire life. She had pneumonia and congestive heart failure. I brought her one of your Cd’s to help her relax. She played it over and over again. It helped keep her calm. While in the hospital at night she would fall asleep listening to your lovely voice! We played it so much we practically wore the CD out. She requested more Cd’s of you so I told her I would place an order. May God continue to bless you in your ministry and talent.
